There is a German crime TV show called Rosenheim Cops, set in the Bavarian town of Rosenheim. Rosenheim has a population of 65,000. 24 seasons for a total of 578 episodes, at least one murder per episode.

Almost 1% murdered. On television.

There should be some kind of limiting factor (an island parish maybe?) and a fixed “detective” (maybe a cop from the mainland doing the last years of his career in a sleepy town), and an overarching *reason* (maybe something occult?)

But what would be cool is having the first season be a “Midsommer Murder” type cosy/milfly comedic tone, and the murders getting more ritualistic verrrrry slowly, so when the hallucinations start, they really feel surprising, and you know most of the (recurring) characters & the jokes they make.

Maybe it’s a cult, but you don’t “get” the clues from Season 1 until Season 3, and the empty houses get looted by poorer members of the community.

If a 22 episode season is happening “back-to-back”, every season could span *2 months* of in-universe time, so 6 or 7 seasons is an entire *year*.

In the UK, we have Midsomer - a county where numerous people in cute villages have been murdered consistently since 1997. We have wondered why people aren’t aware of the murder/arrest rate and are still moving into these villages. You’d think they’d have criminal psychologists investigating by now.
