In this report, we look at the Canadian metallurgical coal, iron and steel industries, and analyse the potential for Canada to diversify trade, increase domestic value added, and cut emissions.

Hey Jonas. I did not find any mention of reducing carbon footprint by moving to cleaner forms of energy (captive solar power plants coupled with energy storage). Do you think it could be a viable strategy. If not, then what are the reasons for naysaying?

The report says that Algoma's transition is "experiencing significant delays and/or lack of clarity as to the path ahead" but Algoma expects two new electric arc furnaces in service this year (EAF1 by Q2), reducing emissions by 70%.
