There was no dispersal order. They just opened up with the gas & pepperballs

Yes, the LAPD have always been good at crowd control but now they are relying too much on the newer les-than-lethal weapons rather than face demonstrators up close. They are injuring and infuriating protesters, escalating the situation.

I’m sure that tactical change was a “we can avoid excessive force lawsuits by firing things”… and because they’re at range, you mostly can’t trace it to a specific officer

Pepper balls are interesting in that I paintballed as a teen. First rule was never point/fire at someone w/no eye protection

Actually less lethal weapons can incur big lawsuits because they cause serious injuries like blindness and even death. Even at a distance video can usually determine who did the damage.

I thank the veteran protesters who were prepared and ran along the group asking who needed water to wash their eyes out or needed medical attention

And telling people to calmly move back so no one gets trampled
