In Canada we elected an antichoice government under Harper twice. They limited abortion funding internationally but, given our laws, we’re unable to eliminate it domestically- it was not for lack of trying.

When Poilievre says using the notwithstanding clause means a law is constitutional, this is exactly what he means. A Conservative government could follow its core belief and ban a woman’s right to choose. He would use the notwithstanding clause to shield the law from being struck down by the courts.
