Overzealous prosecution aside, I think this overlooks the extremely sympathetic treatment he gets from the media, straining to explain a good man doing bad.

The people who get the true scumbag treatment are the minority *victims* of violence, who the media strains to justify had it coming.

If a powerful government calls someone a terrorist you can conclude only that that is the opinion of that government. It tells you nothing about what they did or why they did it
