COP 30 is set to take place in Belém later this year, where there has been major flooding and complete disrespect and threats to the wellbeing of Indigenous peoples at the hands of the government who want the honor and status of hosting COP 30 in their city.
Helder Barbalho, the governor of Pará has proved he does not care about Indigenous people. Barbalho lied for almost the entirety of the occupation of SEDUC and blockade of highways. He tried to change the narrative and paint the Indigenous people in bad light.
For governor Helder Barbalho, hosting COP 30 in the capital of Pará is all about status and looking good. He does not care for the environment. He does not care for the Indigenous people. There is no climate justice, climate action, or any way of combating climate change without Indigenous people.

'Krenak also questioned the presence of large corporations, such as mining companies and banks, among the main sponsors of climate conferences. He highlighted the negative impact these companies have on local populations and the environment.'
