Leaving the moral objection to porn and obscene material aside—how exactly do they propose doing this? It’s censorship and surveillance wrapped in moral crusading.
Obscenity laws are a slippery slope to nanny-stateism. Today’s it’s “pornography”. Tomorrow it’s music with extreme lyrics, age restricted video games, visual arts, “smutty” novels. You see where this is going?
Yeah there’s a lot of sewage readily available on the Internet. A LOT. So the idea of blocking it is a farce. So is retroactively making criminals of anyone with home movies, photos of a partner, or risqué magazines.
Morality policing and criminalization has no place alongside free speech. These maneuvers set the crusaders up as the arbiters of decency, removing our right to choose and think for ourselves and our families.
