and employers often resist increasing accessibility. Public transport is incredibly inaccessible and successive govts have resisted increasing its accessibility. Cuts to PIP will actively drive the estimated 87% of disabled ppl the DWP are planning to strip of it out of work we can do and further

It is obvious that this is nothing to do with increasing our employability - that would look like increasing accessibility, creating more PT remote work, creating schemes like the German one to offset costs of hiring disabled workers. This is just eugenics #WelfareNotWarfare

It really does. I did some rough calculations and PIP doesn't cover all of my disability costs. They will take pip but those costs won't go anywhere. I already work 5 days a week + barely socialise as my weekends are spent recovering.

I've also been sitting in the access to work q for months. My 3rd time around for the same job. First time they confused me with another claimant and demanded quotes for taxi journeys I wasn't going to be taking, but finally got equipment I needed and a single coaching session.

2nd time I got a full set of coaching sessions. Now I'm on a list as I need help with mobility as work are going to be moving offices and parking options are not great so hoping to get some help with a power add on for my wheelchair. 🤞🏻Cause even pip won't cover that expense.

So many people like me being left out of this convo as we show this whole thing up for what it is. Disabled people work if we can, if we have jobs that provide accommodations, most jobs don't. The government should be tackling that if they want more disabled people working. Not taking away support 🤦🏻
