My partner & I were trying to ID a bird we heard while walking and the guy who had stopped his car to let us pass got out and was like "it's a frog, actually. Cope's Gray. I do frog surveys... Sorry" And then got in his car without a word and drove off. Absolute king

I was kind of that guy last fall, on campus. I'd gone for a nice walk in the woods with a friend, and kept running across mushroom hunters. So I'd help them identify what they had, talk about features to look for, give recipe suggestions...

"Are you... a professor?"
"Yes! I teach computer science!"
