Homegrown Vics - we need you. If you’re given permission to leave work/class early, what do you call that “reward”?

I have just been told that people from Melbourne are not familiar with the term 'early mark'. Two people have backed this. Am I insane, or is 'early mark' universal

Born and did most of my schooling in Vic many many years ago. Never heard the term "early mark" during my schooling years, although I have encountered it since occasionally. Pretty sure it was just, "...go home early".

35y.o. Melbournian here, I have 100% never heard "early mark" in my life.

I don't think we have a word for it specifically as a reward, it's just finishing/leaving/knocking off early.

We moved from NSW to SA and here they say “early minute”. When my husband, Mark, first said he would take an early mark his colleagues were confused. The joke then became “it’s an early Steve for me” and “I’m having an early John”.

Early knock off? A previous manager, at one stage, had everyone meet just before knock off to make sure no one left early. We called it ‘parole call’.
