This is a quote from a DS9: Season Eight side-story I'm writing, set during the 1701-E's trip to the past in First Contact, not shown therein.
"A name should never be a burden poor, but its spoor define your foundling path." -Dr. Zefrem Cochrane to Lt. Reginald Eugenia Barclay, at Phoenix Harbour.
May I address you as Jade in our online contact, or would Kitana (Yorino) be preferable within those bounds? And may I mention your name, preference of address and the update to Jenora on your behalf?
Jen prefers to avoid social media, though Picarto stream chat is where we often meet and interact.
Context. This is Kitana, Jade is RL/ @jadedfox.bsky.social I am fine either way, but I don’t like being called Jade linking here, only the other account. I like to keep the two separate.
Entirely fair, and I'm grateful you've clarified said context. Thank you for your shared courtesy, Kitana, so I can do that by you in turn. I feel sure I know your Jade account; if I'm not following it l'll do it now. I'll also do my best to keep the contextual purpose of both your accounts in mind.
Thank you for the gift of defining your limits and respectful reply to my asking. I can be eminently crap at reckoning social cues, which aren't the same across the board for everyone, of course. As I can't read minds, asking reasonable questions and refusing assumption is a Boldly Going I prefer.
