One can only assume so, though the National Ice Center, joint NOAA/Navy effort is presumably the primary operational supplier of sea ice info to DoD.

One can, by extension, assume that DoD losing access to these data could affect US military preparedness and runs counter to mission. So was this a DOGE(Musk) and DoD (Hegseth) joint effort? These data serve more than climate assessment. Congress needs to put SoD on the hot seat again.

I notice that the USGS no longer reports on Canadian Earthquakes. I guess this is punishment for not wanting to sell out. That's OK we have our own service.
