This is a bit counter-intuitive, and only applies from a perspective from outside the US but Trump is effectively destroying the foundations of US power. This may allow advantages for others in a strategically relative sense (bigger share of a smaller pie). Rocky road ahead though.

Perhaps HMG is already making a decent go of pulling the rug of funding from underneath universities by making foreign student visas incredibly expensive and more difficult to obtain. I’m sick of HMG demonising foreign students and migrants.

Agree re university. Lives of these students, their dependants plus others who work at and for Harvard but depend on these students being there for their jobs are totally arbitrarily changed in unforeseeable ways. Many come from poor countries on scholarship. Not repeatable. Future soft power gone
