Well, it inspired me to do something I wished I'd done at the old place, and ditch my name. I mean, I would change my name to honor my grandfather who did the work instead of my father if I weren't so old that it is pointless now. So, I had this URL kicking around. Seemed like an okay handle.
I am changing my name back to my maiden name pretty soon. My daughter is a full adult now, and I want my name back. Probably won't change it here, and it's another common last name but I have an attachment to it.
I think that's great. I never understood the possessive name change stuff, tbh. Seems like a form of cattle branding. Of course, I'm thrice engaged never married, so I know Jack Shit on the topic. I wonder if that was Jack's paternal name?
For me, it is very personal. The man I call Dad is my biological grandfather, who adopted me and has always loved and supported me. That is the only reason I care to change it back. It's another very common name, but it has more emotional resonance with me.
