me finding out other people experience immersion when they play tabletop roleplaying games or specifically play games to seek the experience of immersion

what are you, disney imagineers? talking about the immersive theme park experience? I am sitting at a dining room table with five other nerds and a box of pencils what are you talking about "immersion"
immersion is when they play Gryphons & Gargoyles on that one episode of Riverdale where they heavily imply that Jughead's game is actually magically influencing the real events of the episode in which Veronica is breaking Archie out of juvenile detention
immersion is when Gryphons and Gargoyles has a game quest card that just says "Kill the Red Paladin" which is interpreted to mean killing Archie, because he has red hair and is a good boy, so he runs away into the woods and gets attacked by a bear
A sizeable percentage of D&D players from my generation never really got over not finding Narnia in the back of their closet and they treat ttrpg primarily as a way to fill that void
