Torn because I've never felt it was right to empower China so that Americans could buy $4 pillows and towels. I've always refused to shop there, since learning their tiny fishing villages were remade into giant ports, and China was buying our debt as the Waltons became billionaires... 🤔
Walmart just announced prices will rise.
Thanks to Trump’s tariffs. Not a surprise.
Tariff tantrums means the pain goes around.
But not for the Waltons. Their taxes will go down.
They said out loud that they have to raise prices because of tariffs? They’re admitting that tariffs get passed on to consumers? Someone orange is going to be tweeting nails.
Considering Walmart’s been price-gouging its customers (like other big corps) when they do raise their prices due to “tariffs,” they’ll feel “justified” to keep their prices at the pre-tariff higher levels & won’t lower them when tariffs are gone. Warms your heart, doesn’t it? Walmart’ll be fine.
Surely thinking about taking less profit never crossed their minds. Poor, poor billionaires going to pay no taxes on more profit. This is an excuse to raise prices and never lower them again. Price gouging brought to you by the First Felon. Fuck this system. #TaxWealthNotWork
This is the bigger issue. Corps are raising prices in the name rod inflation while getting mega tax breaks and reaping record profits. I support raising prices because of tariffs so the maga cult has to pay.
I have to pay too. I'm not alone. Many of us blue voters are not able to shrug away the rise in prices while popping corn to watch the hunger games. We are in the game. I support price gouging consequences and taxing billionaires and corporations. #TaxWealthNotWork
That's just the first domino.
All retailers will raise prices, whether impacted by tariffs or not.
That's how corporate greed works. Trump gave them the perfect excuse to rob us dry.
And his moronic followers will think that's a good thing.
In other words, Walmart is out of pre-tariff inventory so it's time to pass the cost on to the consumers. And they plan to disperse that cost across a broad spectrum of products even products that are not impacted by #tariffs.
Increasing prices on everything means the prices will never be lowered.
Why do I feel like all these companies are going to be reporting record profits next year after crying about tariffs? God forbid they make a few billion less in profit to help the American people who made them billionaires in the first place.

At local grocery, egg prices were down 50 cents but there were empty meat (chicken & beef) bins. And missing produce. Avocados went up $1.
Why are groceries so high?
Why do I pay a little more each week for the same stuff?
Those crystal bridges don't performatively build themselves, after all.
