No, I read you correctly: you're suggesting that these are the only possible alternatives, because otherwise decrying their actual actions wouldn't mean "they should do nothing". They could do lots of other things!

It feels like there are quite a few viable, potentially useful options that may be available somewhere on the spectrum from "drop millions of pounds of rubble on top of children" and "close up the IDF, our hands are tied, we can't do anything".

The only way to fight terrorism is to deradicalize people. To do that you need to make not being radical more rewarding than being radical. By constantly making things in the west bank worse and killing tons of civilians Israel is doing the opposite.
