How I feel every morning telling people about the fascist coup currently underway but no one wants to talk about it because they don't want to hear about news or politics right now.

You do have to have a middle ground though. I have lost days ruminating about it. You have to still take breaks and not talk about it 24/7. Always keep fighting but people do need their peace sometimes or mentally it messes you up. Imo we need set dates for protests more. Give on those days 150%
Every time people say politics or news stress them out and they just don't want to hear about it, I pull out the "you ever wonder what you would've done in the Holocaust? You're doing it now"
"It's not polite to discuss politics" is precisely how we got into this mess. This whole democratic experiment stops working when people stop engaging with it. Keep talking, you're doing the lord's work.
Please keep reporting, please keep sharing. Your voice is among the strongest and few media sources that people are trusting right now. You might not even see this comment...but I had to say it.
I wrote the most non-fingerpointing/non-defensive posts on Facebook back in November about how community uplift is going to be more needed than ever, and I got laughs reacted + 9 people unfriended me. Self-proclaimed "non-political" people and digging their head into the sand: name a better duo
Last night, my brother said “I’m annoyed by the news too but ultimately we’ll probably just be annoyed for a few years and nothing crazy will happen to us.”
He’s probably right since we’re white passing, but if not, the consequences will be dire.
Yeah, coming to work is really the fucking weirdest part about this. Work really makes people feel like they are ok. Bitch,You are not! We in danger! I had a meeting with my manager and told her that its hard to focus on their expectations when I might have to leave, hide, or fight at any moment.
A fucking million plus people died from Rona, and these motherfuckers didn't understand the scope of it because, "It didn't effect them." Selfish, unserious fucking citizens in this country.
Reframing stuff like your existence and your relationships as "preference" was part of that too. That whole "alternative lifestyle" nonsense hurt so many groups.
I literally had a friend block me because I asked them to attend a protest I was helping organize. It's wild that the local libertarian 2A advocate seems more upset than half of my supposedly left-leaning friends.
On the one hand, I understand them not having the spoons or whatever to deal with this. But, on the other hand, if they can't handle the news that fascism is building, they're really not going to be able to handle fascism when it's in full force. Idk what their plan is.
I finally got a family member to watch John Oliver which makes news entertaining for people who hate watching the news. After they watched Oliver’s latest show they were horrified. So many people are unaware.
No one in their right mind actually enjoys this stuff. We are slogging through it because we have to remain informed on things that are happening that will affect our lives.
Being a trans person over the last few years has been just perpetually bumming people out who want to just ignore hundreds of bills being proposed, millions being spent on commercials, and rising bigotry nationwide. Like it's not a choice, if I could ignore it, I'd be more than happy to.
That’s how I feel too. I can’t hold it against anyone, I’m tired of it myself. I’d like to shrug it all off too but I just can’t take my eyes off of a looming threat.
"I can hand out a million vaccinations
Or let 'em all die in exasperation
Have 'em all healed of their lacerations
Have 'em all killed by assassination
I can make anybody go to prison
Just because I don't like 'em
And I can do anything with no permission"

"Don't look up" and it's on Netflix
It is totally a don’t look up moment for most.

say “your overreacting” or “it hasn’t happened yet”.
"I just don't know what to do". Hundreds of people, including @esqueer.net has posted numerously steps the ordinary person can do.
Do better, America.
He’s probably right since we’re white passing, but if not, the consequences will be dire.
And until it does, we move on without them.
Politics is how we organise life and society, it's important
Thank you, sincerely, for all that you do.
Most important events since WWII and potentially moreso….
And apparently it irks my 20+ year friends when I try talking about it.
I will be damned if I let exhaustion, fascism or fear drive me into the shadows.
(the death camptina?)
