Not exactly. I still wouldn't like it because it's indicative that they are finished with a rebuild they never actually started. The fact that it is yet another Flyers alum isn't the reason it's a bad move, just more evidence that new era of orange was always nothing more than a marketing slogan
I understand. I am not a rip to the ground and start over guy, but i can appreciate the perspective. I think you have to be really bad for 3-4 years straight to have the rip to the ground work. Even if you do that, there are no guarantees.
I agree with you - no plan comes with guarantees. But I would much prefer being atrocious for 4 years than do what they're doing which is spending 10-15 years on the treadmill. And now they are intent on racing right back to it.
It's what happens when a franchise goes 50 years without a cup and a decade without any sort of excitement or anything to hold onto. Some fans will be upset no matter what , for me it's a hire that makes sense for both parties . I think briere and Jones are aware of how pivotal this off-season is.
I have been there for all 50 years. I know it, I feel it. Tocchet is a winner as a player. If he wasn't an ex-Flyer I am not sure the reaction would be the same.
