What alternatives to the state model are there? There is no federal model. I'm afraid equity will become a state based phenomenon. But the real question is how can we make it equity even for states that don't make education a priority after DoE shutdown? That's the deeper question.

I pose the same question to you though:

What alternatives have they proposed other than DOE and the States running it. They don’t even have a functioning model in particular they can point to at the state level (bc no state solely works with charter/private etc. schools)

Fair enough. I’m not against restructuring the DOE—as long as Congress doesn’t vote to dismantle it. But using the state model by default isn’t the only option. They could build something new—they just don’t.

If education were all that mattered, we might as well be 50 countries with an EU-style federal gov. I’m off topic 😅 but point is: A kid in Cali should have the same shot as a kid in Mississippi. If they’re capable, why add more barriers?
