Another day, another photo. This image, “Surface Tension,” from about three years ago, one of my series of photographs of details in the groundwater, streams, and marshes of my area, as well as other locations.

No, not ice. The surface has an interesting iridescent appearance due to a beneficial bacteria in the groundwater — I have a lot of photos exploring the colors and textures in that phenomenon!
A little tip if you see water with that surface: if you poke it with a stick and it swirls, it’s petroleum, but if it breaks apart almost like glass shards, it’s the bacterial film!
