So what. They need to not care about that. We've seen that these titles are less influential than ever. The majority of those being pushed by right-wing narratives are finding them online. Starmer should be far more worried about Farage's TikTok audience than the bloody Mail front page.

This is probably the closest to the truth. At the root of it is her consistently bad judgement. Starmer may even have had reservations about her but had to appoint some people from the left to keep all factions happy.
