FYI: Heather Cox Richardson has stated she's NOT affiliated with this movement. She's not necessarily opposed to it, but is uncomfortable at her name being used to promote it when she has no information on who's organizing it. (I personally am promoting it, but with images that don't use her name.)

Only if you have to...Not shopping at all is better and it's only for one day. But in general, you should try to replace any large business shopping with a small business option if possible. Subsequent blackouts may last longer.

Appreciate the comments about ownership of the boycott. Unfortunately, there is no way to modify a post on BlueSky yet, without deleting and reposting. That affects a lot of people.

I would like to see this become a monthly event like the first Friday every month.

I have a reminder on my calendar to top off my tank on Monday or Tues (weather has been harsh here) after that, I stop spending. Taking soup & sandwiches to work & buy nothing.
