Rewatched this a while ago and had a good time. Like you, I think the ending is fantastic and there’s some great work establishing how long the crew have been together. This line:

‘You’re talking like it’s your buddy. I’m your buddy. You’re drunk on this.’

Is such a great character in a line

The movie sets up a gruesome death that could have been this century's equivalent of the chestburster, and then chickens out, possibly because they didn't know how to pull it off and make it look good.

I've only seen it once, but I remember liking it. It does follow a very familiar "Alien" formula, but it didn't feel like a cheap clone. And it had it's own surprises.

I always felt this was very much 80s/90s straight-to-VHS that somehow managed to get that cast involved.
Or a high-budget episode of the Outer Limits, stretched out to feature length, but not as good.

Rebecca is so elegant and classy she’s never confirmed it. But people have put two and two together and given how Jake Gylenhaal talks about him (there seems to be no love there), everyone seems to agree the idiot in question is Ryan Reynolds. Might not be, though, but that’s the general consensus
