Just brought back a memory of going to Mass while on vacation and my younger brother (during a quiet part of the service) lets out the loudest burp - and says loudly "Excuse me!" then in a quieter voice "Sorry!" We all giggled and this grown up in the pew ahead of us almost fell over laughing
One Easter, our 300 seat church was packed (probably closer to 400 people). They pulled out the big host. In the pause after Father presented it, the young boy behind us exclaimed "Damn! That's huge!" The whole church belly laughed and Father took a minute before standing back up.
We had to march up to the front row every week. Even when we were running late. So embarrassing! And we had the priest & Deacon over for dinner on occasion. We totally went there.
Cradle Catholic here, we definitely side-eye the converts who take themselves and Catholicism so seriously. It seems like they're more attracted to the rules than the faith.
