Do you have the number of registered firearms owners? How? I thought Harper - who I consider to be an idiot for making the decision - cancelled the registry?

You still need a license to own non restricted firearms, so we know there are 2.3 million people holding that license in Canada who CAN legally own a gun. But the only registered ones are Restricteds. Pistols and some semi auto rifles like the AR-15, of which there are 800,000 licensed people.

Since pistols and restricted long guns still require registration, its a lot easier to get a much more accurate count of how many of those there are in legal ownership. And its about two million.

Thx. Seems high for a population of some 20 million males - 10%? But i imagine many such have multiple firearms.

No prob. And I think you called it there. A relative few are really picking up the slack for others. Plenty of people likely have permits but do not own guns.

Now I wonder how many non-licensed gun owners there are...
