It's also a racket run by the Mormon Church to influence the culture of porn. It's basically a way for the Church to police healthy sexual behavior by comparing it to adultery and serious personal failings.

💯 and the truth is, addictive personalities are going to be addicted to anything. I've been 'addicted' to porn at points because I was depressed and not fixing my social situation + transitioning. Magically, the 'addiction' went away when I did some work on myself. But no, let's blame porn! Goofy.

And when it wasn't porn, it was gaming or alcohol - things without nearly as much social stigma. So it's not about the porn, and blaming + litigating the medium creates a social and financial stigma that actually allows abuse and manipulation to thrive in the larger industry. Frustrating.
