I am getting a bit fed up with Scottish pubs rebranding their names to some faux Irish names. There must be some marketing data sheet the pub chains are working off that suggests more people come through your door its its called 'O'something'. The Tron I knew was a great pub.

There was a trend for faux Irish bars about 20-25 years ago around about the same time as faux Aussie bars. I guess what goes around comes around. I'll wager most will be rebranded to something else in a few years time.
Was sad to hear the IB had changed its name, one of my other haunts gone :-(
I don’t know how the council goes about it but this needs to stop.
Mind you, if they called it the James Connolly………..
If they're going to rename things, why not go with something more local? There are names that will attract the types that go into the tartan tat shops.
