Kudus may well transform you, but if he doesn’t, then you won’t be able to move him on without a significant loss and you won’t be able to spend that sort of money again on someone else very soon, which is why I say I like the deal

We couldn’t do much last summer because of the Rice deal. The Pepe outlay set us back big time. We can’t afford 100M players every window even if we get it right.
Exactly right, basically Liv / Arsenal can probably only do that sort of deal once every 2 or 3 years, so when you do a deal like that, it has to be a Rice / VvD type player. Kudus is not at that level.
Isak is, but barcodes will (correctly) want stupid cash.
Sesko for £65M seems far more sensible
But that’s my point! I’ll refer to my earlier post, there are no Rice / VvD level players available, and if you want them (Isak?) you need to pay £120m plus.
Where is the guarantee with Seško at £65m, but not Kudus at £85m who has already proven himself in England?
It’s entirely fair to cite Pepe as a mistake, but did it really set us back? We have spent a fortune over the last five seasons (which we needed to do) just not in attacking areas.
I’m not saying we need Rice level signings every summer, but attacking players win you trophies and we fall short.

I still really don’t like that deal, I would want a higher potential upside for that sort of cash.
