He refused to believe that Trump/Supreme Court/Republicans could be so amoral and evil. His belief in the genuine good of humanity blinded him to the reality of our time.
That sums it up perfectly as it's also how I felt before the election. Based on the results, it's hard to dispute that there are more people in this world who lean towards evil than good. It was difficult to admit that was even possible; however, there's no denying it now.

What could have been a magnificent legacy is eroding daily. He gave clemency to a female tRUMPy in Dixon IL, a “public servant” who stole more than $54M from the town. She served less than half of her sentence & has no remorse. WTF is he thinking?

If you mean the Supreme Court ruling, that was specifically and only for a Republican. It would never be upheld if a Democrat President took advantage of the free pass.
