HAPPENING NOW: Hello from Greenbelt, MD, where a federal judge will hear arguments over whether the Trump administration can invoke the state secrets privilege to withhold information about what it has done to facilitate Kilmar Abrego Garciaβs return to the US.

But they say the government is "stonewalling" their efforts.
It seems crazy that they can blatantly violate a Court order like this, keeping someone illegal detained against a Court order and it takesβ¦. weeks?
If sheβs building evidence for criminal contempt, that says to me sheβs given up on coercing the government to bring back KAG.
But *civil* contempt, in an effort to coerce compliance with the court, feels like it shouldβve come swifter than this.
People have been singing, chanting in the lead up to the 1 pm hearing.
In the media room, I can still hear supporters milling about outside.
"All rise" as Judge Paula Xinis enters the room.
Parties introduce themselves.
Judge Xinis explain why we're here.
Plaintiff's motion to compel, additional discovery, supplemental pleadings on invocation of privilege.
But Xinis says she wants to try to do as much of it as she can in open court.
So I am prepared to take that off of under seal docket to talk in open court.
If you hang on a minute, I'll try to find the details for you!
He, nor anyone in his Admin is going to act in "good faith", he's made that perfectly clear and eventually an EO is going to say something stupid like "a Court's jurisdiction ends at the State line".
π
Welp., I hope the courts still have some power.
(also I don't think I really understand Bluesky thread.)
Bukele is holding Garcia hostage and the admin canβt admit that publicly.
The easiest people to con are con man.
After that, go over to NARA in College Park and see how things are doing there?
or is this just some non-official deal between Trump's underlings and El Salvador?
And the Judge is how can I?
Guynn is the kind of lawyer who give lawyers a bad name. Sidestepping and avoiding direct answers. It's gamesmanship on the part of the DOJ, where they don't really believe in justice! π€π§π€
The real question is does John Roberts have the balls to hold ANYONE in contempt and will US Marshals obey?
