The newest ones are not. But if you look at what started to happen after the boom times of the 1950’s, union busting , higher CEO pay and so forth, it started with the boomers.
Well, as a Gen X, I can say that a big part of how these people exist is our consumerism that took off hugely in the 80s. People say the boomers could afford houses, but they only had 1 family car. That's the thing I noticed is suddenly people had a LOT more things. Tons of clothes, electronics etc
If consumerism didn't exist a lot of the tech oligarchs wouldn't exist. Definitely not Jeff Bezos. I recall talking to one of the occupy Wall Street bros and I asked why not boycott the corps and he was so proud to say "what, you want people to live like Euell Gibbons?" 🙄
I agree with you there. Now everyone has to have the newest car and the biggest house. No one needs a 3000 sqft house and the biggest SUV and truck that is made.
I told my partner when he asked how these people afford new cars like they do, I said “they are leased!” And their credit is maxed out.
You know people have too much “money” when you find a pair of dolce and gabana jeans at goodwill for $10. I have a hard enough time with wanting to get rid of my z cavaeriche jeans. And here people give away designer clothes like nothing.
I bought a set of shirt and capris Vera Wang for $35. That's with tax and shipping from Thred up. Never worn.
Well, if Trump has his way, this consumerism will pause for awhile
