i had a civics class in 7th grade, we did learn a great deal about all sorts of things, but most importantly why voting is important and how a single vote becomes many. None of my three kids had any classes like that. not sure if it had to do with states, I grew up in VA, they grew up here in CA

My cousin in Melbourne, Vic, AU was fined for NOT voting. She had to go to court to explain missing an election. Voting is compulsory there. It should be that way here. Every 4 years the first Tuesday in November should be a holiday so folks can vote.

In Canada, when you file your taxes, there a check box that asks if you want to be enrolled on the voting lists for where you live. Once done, it can't be undone. If you move, you simply file taxes next yr, & check the box again. Why is it so hard to do this down there? Outlaw Voter suppression!

I live in Washington state. When you get your driver’s license you automatically get registered to vote. And everyone in the state votes by mail. I know other states that do this as well.
