So Netflix is creating a new completely free tier just for this right? You know, so that those who can't afford streaming services can actually watch it?
I really wanted to celebrate this but it feels more like another step towards the destruction of public broadcasting. Guess we'll see. 😔
The article says it will still also run on PBS:
"In a notable change from the HBO deal, new episodes of Sesame Street will also run day and date on PBS and the PBS Kids app, ensuring that they are easily accessible."
PBS will have to increase its private side of the business, what with the anti PBS GOP types in congress wanting to slash anything perceived as getting "gov funding". Even though most of the funding for the Network is done through private funding drives. Hoopla & Kanopy should be considering subs.
