Humor, relatability, and good topics. Also… anything more than 45-60 minutes gets old. Some of the popular long form podcasts are just tooooo much.

I’m a listener due to driving a LOT. So video doesn’t matter to me. Some of the long form pods have a LOT that could be edited out.

And personally, I’m not into DG podcasts that spend a lot of time with 2 or 3 dudes shooting the shit, talking about local scenes, making picks, or endless sponsorship speculation. So that rules out 99% of them. The Upshot is 50% ok, 50% of the time. Josh is not an enjoyable voice.

I listen to a lot of professionally produced podcasts, and a lot of dg podcasts really suffer by comparison. Audio quality, host technique, preparation, content.

As someone newer to the sport. Consistency is important. There are a ton of podcasts that die within the first year or 2. Sound quality is important. I like audio stuff so it needs to sound good. And relatable/personalities.

Yeah, it’s frustrating that some of the SEO dominant podcasts haven’t been active for a year+. Even talked to Spotify about it.
