As a Canadian, I would not appreciate a 400% increase in our population, resulting in our politics being completely overwhelmed and our country being hijacked by people who are still pretty right wing by our standards.

I'm sure we could work something out that wouldn't just steam roll current Canadian politics. A certain number of years before getting representation, having it be phased in over time, etc.

Bluntly, we don't really want you. I would much rather those states fix their own problems rather than dump their issues on is. Cuz those states might be progressive for the US but remain deeply regressive from our perspective.

There is this incredibly frustrating impulse from the US left that Canada is going to save you. We won't, we can't, and we are busy trying to repair all the damage you are doing.
