My girlfriend was knocked off her bike cycling to work while pregnant twice in the space of 2 weeks, so had to stop cycling to work. One of those was a taxi driver speeding up the wrong lane to try save a few seconds.

I've seen loads of drivers mount the path to undertake the row of traffic and turn left.
Honestly, people have become impatient and angry since covid.
And there is no traffic enforcement.
And people see bikes and bike lanes as the reason for their delay, not the number of cars.
The Gardai have started to take some steps in unmarked traffic policing vehicles, and the reaction on Facebook is pretty eye-opening. There is so much screeching about it being unfair.
I agree. Social media has not helped. The local groups went nuts about Dun Laoghaire becoming a low traffic neighbourhood. You would swear we banned cars from existence. Fury over cycle lanes. Each parking space worth the lives of 5 cyclists etc.... the last bit was exaggerated.... only just...
I was going to say how many of them are cyclists?
I'm a regular bike rider myself and I've had a few close calls. Drivers just do not seem to be able to fit us into their road map.
I was in a taxi in Dublin when the driver started overtaking someone and got aggressive and upset at a cyclist going the opposite direction who was just... in their lane.

It's mad out there.
