With the help and advice of some Irish friends I've written about leaving for Ireland, for British trans people.

I've looked into places, but I don't think I qualify under most visas. You know since I'm a newscast director and not directly a journalist. Sigh.
At least I'm in Minnesota.
That said…if you know anyone at like RTE or Das Erste…LMK lol. (I have been working on learning German. I’m…ok at it. Spanish too. Functional but not fluent. And some Russian.)

Oddly as a technical journalist who hung on to all her student radio contacts, I do know a few people in your industry.
And oh student radio. I miss the days of playing Pink Floyd one second, and the Plain White T’s the next. Followed by some random hip-hop song that was requested by a listener.
Hapy days.
I came away with the Perfect Radio Voice, which I only wheel out these days for answer phone messages.
If any readers are able, please consider helping Trans Rescue. We have passengers stuck in desperate situations around the world, and we operate on a shoestring. We need your support to operate.

How does "income" tax work - as far as whether it is collected by an employer or dealt with by the individual. What other taxes need to be known about to organise to pay (eg, even something like a TV licence).
All minor things that are generally easy if people know about them in advance (or know enough to ask specifics). Having worked in and out of the UK there are plenty of things to trip people up.
Public transport: you can (sometimes) pay other ways, but mostly you'll want a leap card for value and convenience
There are also 2 other supplementary taxes which will add about 5%
