So, how's #Daggerheart? When I took a look at the early playtest, it felt like a yet another 5E-but-with-a-twist. The 2d12 system is cute, the ability cards are fine, but it's still ultimately trying to do exactly what 5e is doing.

I would lightly disagree in that it's very customizable to what you want to do with it. You can feel D&Ds bones in it for sure, but it's doing different things too. ThevSRD is free and has much of the rulebase in it if you want to check it out.
What I mean by doing 5e, is that it's still very much going for that powerful high fantasy vibe with characters largely defined by their discreet mechanical combat abilities and falling into very recognizable D&D character archetypes. Like Pathfinder, like SotWW.
I think it's going to be extremely interesting to see how Daggerheart will do, since it's essentially a replacement for 5e. Critical Role might be the one institution with enough popularity to push against D&D, especially if their next season is going to be Daggerheart.
