😂😂😂 I’m old enough that I remember writing with fountain pens that had the ink cartridge you popped into the pen. I liked them and the feel of writing with them, the way the ink looked on paper. I’d use one again!

I own many cartridge-using fountain pens, some antique and some just days old. Dipping is fun, but having an entire bottle of ink spilled in a purse is not so much. Today’s pen is a glittering red Jinhao with a Jane Davenport cartridge, pink ink.

I started using fountain pens in elementary school because I'm left-handed and ballpoint ink (and pencil graphite) always smudges all over the side of my hand. You wouldn't think fountain pen ink would dry faster, but I rarely had the same problem with it.

I think one of my favorite writing-tool-to-language evolution is Myanmar derived from using narrow bamboo tubes dipped in ink. That's why the language is organized around circles. You can try that one too, maybe?
