Mary Pickford transformed in CINDERELLA (1914). This version opts for a more symbolic glass slipper with shiny satin rather than actual glass. Probably for the best, given Pickford's penchant for physical comedy.

The Cloak of Many Furs (aka Donkeyskin) is a fav for a similar reason: she chooses to reveal her identity to the Prince after he falls in love with her.
And especially since that’s the version Disney ended up with. Don’t mind me, I’ve just had someone tell me, more than one time, that they wanted the real fairytales - and meant Disney
The 1899 Méliès CINDERELLA was his most ambitious fantasy to date. Unfortunately, the original hand-applied color doesn't survive for the famous "if the shoe fits" scene.
Here's a surviving color fragment to show you what the rest could have been like. I imagine the shoe might have been colored blue for maximum visibility.
FORBIDDEN FRUIT (1922) was a modern twist on Cinderella and most of it takes place in modern times but the fantasy ball sequence has an entire glass dress
We get a nice shot of the glass slipper when Agnes Ayres loses it on the infinity pool staircase (what, YOU don't have one?) as she flees the ball, transforming into her rags in front of everyone. (The film's theme is social humiliation, so the public transformation fits.)
FORBIDDEN FRUIT is actually a remake of the 1915 drama THE GOLDEN CHANCE.
Its Cinderella gets no fantasy sequences beyond dreaming of modern gowns and, instead of ugly stepsisters, Cleo Ridgely has a violent criminal husband.
The glass slipper is specific only to Perrault. Other versions give her golden or fur slippers. But the part that drives me crazy is that, until Walt Disney's 1950 movie, no one ever addressed the fact that Cinderella doesn't need to fit the slipper, she still has the other one from the pair.

I also hate the Disney version for its goddamn cat murder
