You might be able to argue for Wikipedia being the “crowning achievement” (whatever that means) but to say anyone from the centuries ago would be indifferent to the accomplishments you listed is pretty silly

Like if you include the entire internet and billions of connected devices with advanced storage and compute, as the underlying infrastructure which contributes to Wikipedia, then sure maybe.
But pretty sure people would care about medicine and landing on the fucking moon.
tbf landing on the moon is impressive but also impacts people's daily lives far less than Wikipedia. considering we're talking about mamy people who founded libraries and here is one always at hand and accessible to the world it tracks. modern medicine though would definitely also be up there
In sidebar defense of lunar landing: my mom (software eng.) worked on the Apollo missions at MIT’s Lincoln Lab. She was the sole radar array programmer. That work then later translated into her work on a 9 person team whose air traffic landing navigation system was adopted as international standard.
I think that gets on to the previous posters question of are we going to include all the knock on results/setup from the thing or just the thing. just the moon landing as an accomplishment vs Wikipedia the living site you can use and also medicine which you can use are different weights
right, but all the other things exist in context of modern civilization. so many levels in the house of cards need to already exist. most humans couldn’t read!
but the moon?
every human that’s ever lived has looked up and dreamt about going. we went there, in a way that might as well be magic.
if you went way back in time and talked about medicine or encyclopedias, people would be impressed, but it would still be within the realm of possibility, an extension of what already exists.
but going to the moon is just impossible. completely, unfathomably ridiculous, but so easy to understand
