UK grid in stupidly good excess renewables (sunny and windy!) with low demand - its been net zero (considering export) a couple of times and low price.

Quite when the the UK Grid decides not even to fire up the gas plants on days like this is going to be interesting - apparently enough services and regulation happening that it might be this year, but I am sure there will be some collective holding of breadth this year.
A reminder that as consumers, our main role here is to use electricity for energy - transport (electric trains/cars etc... roll on electric flights London to Frankfurt at some point!) and heat (heat pumps).
Not enough is made of how relatively well the UK is doing in this front; even on overcast and still days, the renewables mix is impressively high. Still more to do, but great progress.
