I believe the phrase elected dictatorship was coined for British PM's and yet, even with a big majority they can be toppled if like Truss, they are plain awful

We've had economic collapses before. Herbert Hoover stayed in office until his term ended. Our system makes other results hard to come by. One check has been the need to get reelected and keep popular support, but at his age and given constitutional issues, no one expects Trump to run again.
