🔮 what gets me is even when you point it at what people say it’s best at (digesting oodles of text and spitting out an averaged response) it can’t even do that right! it will take an authors entire body of work and then say the opposite of the clearly stated opinions within
the fact that it's called "AI" and the fact that images and ideas about AI-related things have been pumped into peoples' brains via scifi books movies etc has given them a bit of emotional investment thanks to effective marketing
i genuinely don’t understand this… like i’m not particularly technically skilled with art, but that’s part of the fun. i enjoy learning new techniques & riffing on things.
a lot of what makes art interesting to me is the process itself of creating & then iterating. why tf would i outsource that?
because you understand and care about the art as art. they only see it as something to produce and consume, not to move or educate or show your vision of life or express an ideal. its a craven jealousy from people who had their emotional dysregulation celebrated and enabled from day 0
Exactly.
Someone could type in "animal crossing mad Max fury road" but whatever product you use would NEVER produce anything as high-quality as your memes that you made because it has to draw on pre-trained imagery. It just blends image data together in a way it has been told it should work.
the same people who think that great musicianship is pure talent and not heavy practice as an excuse for lake of effort, stating that learning music theory would "kill the art" are the same people who champion rampant Ai.
Their riffs are mid and the same for their midjourney or wtf ever
Yeah they tell themselves that they just were unlucky not to be born an artist, but they all know it's cope. They know deep down that they just don't care enough to try hard
And, even if ChatGPT *does* give a good answer, i cant comprehend how the users dont see that it is robbing them of the ability to use the skill of answering in the moment of need
Forcing school as a means to *get*, but not necessarily be *good at*, a job is arguably the downfall of society
Like i will do anything to avoid being put on the spot and expected to give a technical answer direct from memory, and will make any excuse to postpone to dbl check the data first... but in big girl jobs, if a client is asking, sometimes you gotta fukken answer them? Is ChatGPT going to be there?
they probably listen to real people who are just as wrong in just as dangerous ways so don't see the problem
ai tells you to put glue in your pizza sauce, trump tells you to inject bleach, manosphere tells you to eat nothing but meat or you'll turn into a woman - what's the difference?
Comments
it’s a poor coder and continues to worsen
it cannot consistently follow a directive long enough to be stable for any general ongoing purpose
it’s genuinely creating addictive and anti social behaviour in people (wonder why proponents are so loud and vicious)

What is art other than personal creativity distilled into a medium?
