I think the calculus for whether you should give to Harvard or not is very different for people who _went to Harvard_. If you didn’t go there, you have better ways to spend your money.

The Ivy leagues will be fine. However, I happen to live in a college town that is heavily reliant on student workers that would surely be ruined without the flow of cash. Us small midwestern college town folk would appreciate the help 🙏

Nope. Harvard has hundreds of billions in its foundation. I applaud and admire them for standing up to Taco King, and I hope other institutions with deep coffers will do the same, but they have the largest reserves of anyone and don't actually need charity to survive the attacks

Harvard has an endowment in excess of $50 billion. They will be fine. How about instead supporting one of the many smaller, struggling schools that are genuinely threatened by this administration's policies?

Because if they fail then all those schools will as well and if they succeed it will protect the whole system somewhat. There's a reason lots and lots of those small schools - my wife is a Prof at one - have signed on in support of Harvard. They are taking the lead on behalf of many others.
