if you can’t choose which company provides something, it’s a monopoly, if you can’t stop it being a monopoly, it should NOT be private.

Privatisation is extremely efficient at extracting revenue for the benefit of shareholders and the detriment of everyone - which, of course, includes shareholders. For do they not drink the same water as we plebs?
