Clinton was a lousy candidate, yes. But calling her the absolute worst in history just sounds like unsupported, lazy, (i.e.Trumpian) rhetoric. Is it really necessary for all sides to dumb things down? Is that really the only way left to make your point? It makes it harder to support your ideas.

Maybe. It takes a lot to get to that point, many people cannot survive the intense national scrutiny. I'm not sure there's much value in speculating now. What's true is she got three million more votes but didn't become President. That suggests a structural flaw.

I think the second reason is a lot more prominent, and we're heading into a dark world if the only way to counteract loud, blustery misinformation is with "our own" loud, blustery misinformation (which is your proposed solution).

We need to somehow make thoughtful politicians attractive. Dunno how.

I agree, except that I don't think most people are dumb. I think most people are desperate for change, real change has been systematically denied by the Democratic Party, so people voted for the only person who said he'd be willing to change things & mostly ignored the rest.

Evidence: The candidate who promised some version of "Change" has won every election for the past 17 years, with the closest counterargument being Biden's election. And I'd argue that even though Biden promised no fundamental change, his election still represented a "change from Trump" to voters.
