It’s horrible. Bryan Stevenson- a black lawyer who started the Equal Justice Initiative, was repeatedly body cavity searched by a white prison guard upon entering a prison in Alabama while there to see a client sometime in the 90s (?). It does happen. (I believe the guard later regretted it)

I read his book, Just Mercy. The story starts in 1989- the racism in the south was shocking to me. This particular guard is transformed by an experience with Bryan’s client and it opens his heart. It was one of the best parts of the story.
