Yeah, that's a bit tricky. Seminar and Psych are pretty heavy courses, particularly for kids in grade 10, so late work is a definite caution flag. I guess as with many things, it's a contextual decision based on individuals and circumstances -- ?

I usually have a frank conversation w/them 1) you haven’t been great about meeting deadlines, 2) this is the kind of work expected, 3) I’m happy to recommend you but I’m concerned if you are really prepared for it at this point and maybe you should consider waiting a year to better prepare.

Erring on the side of creating possibility should be our default setting -- that is our role, after all, though of course it has to be balanced with responsibility and natural consequences for behaviour. Why our work is so complex!
